FAQ

What do Friends of the Library Do?

We fundraise to buy more cool stuff for the library.
We volunteer to support programs like summer reading and literacy tutoring.
We advocate for the library with local government.

When are meetings?

Second Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the library.

Why isnt there a County library system?

County library systems are typically funded using a library tax (Salt Lake County has a 0.000477% tax). Utah County does not have a library tax and as a result there is no money for a county library system. Some of the libraries in Utah county are part of the North Utah County Library Cooperative but Saratoga Springs is not.

Why are we not part of NUCLC?

Our current library space does not have enough room to meet the minimum size requirements to join. We used to be part of it but Saratoga Springs residents were required to pay a fee to use it because we did not meet the minimum size requirement (which other cities residents did not have to pay). Most Saratoga Springs residents did not pay to use NUCLC’s resources, which meant that people from other cities borrowed our books and items but Saratoga Springs residents weren’t getting much benefit.

When are we getting a new building?

The City recently broke ground for a new library/city hall building. Estimated completion is fall 2025. The new library space is estimated to be about 17,000 square feet.
